Significant Achievements
- The Kongu Engineering College, IIP Cell was awarded ‘A’ Excellent grade in 2003 by AICTE review team.
- Received maximum grant in aid amount of Rs. 11 lakh from AICTE up to 2006.
- Through its revenue earning activities of consultancy, training, testing assignments to industries a total of Rs.7.11 crore has been earned from 2002 till date
- One of the major activities of the cell is to conduct energy and power quality audits to industries. Six faculty members are Energy Auditors certified by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), New Delhi. Four faculty member is certified Energy Manager.
- Due to the above capability the cell conducts Energy and Power Quality Audits for major industries (more than twenty audits every year).
- From the open house exhibition projects conducted by the college every year the cell selects 15 to 20 innovative projects and facilitates exhibition of this projects in industry exhibition like INTEC which is held in Coimbatore every year. The Kongu Engineering College Stall has won special commendation prize from the organizers.
- Faculty members (about 10 % of the total members per year) from various departments are trained in the Industries during the vacation periods for one week to 10 days to give them the necessary Industry exposure.
- The Kongu Engineering College IIPC have MoU-s with nearly 85+ organizations due to which regular interactions between the Industry and the Institute takes place. This list is getting continuously enhanced.
- The faculty members are also deputed to various programmes organized by Industry set ups like CII, CODISSIA, EDDISSIA, CPC etc.., to get necessary industry exposure.
- Final year students are encouraged to take up Industry related projects. No.of students who are undertaking Industry based projects and who are undergoing internships in industries are 500+ for the current year.
- Due to the extensive industry interactions , all the KEC departments have done very well in the National Level Survey conducted by AICTE-CII for identifying the ‘Best Industry linked Technical departments and Institute’ by being in the top ‘Platinum level’ throughout the country.
- The EEE department of the college had bagged the Best Industry linked department award during the year 2013 from AICTE-CII Survey.
- The Institute has also won “Outstanding Institute-Industry Partnership Award” – Sustainable Institute Industry Partnership (SIIP) from SEED, Chennai for the three consecutive years of 2014, 2015 and 2016.
- TAFE, Chennai INNOVISTA 2014, 2015 - KEC students’ project teams won 6 & 7 prizes out of top 10 prizes awarded.
- The Institute has also won “the best Industry linked Institute” award in INTEC 2014, CODISSIA, Coimbatore in June 2014;
